The Criminal Bureau: Policy Statement

Bay Resourcing Teaching Agency adheres to the CRB Code of Practice which can be viewed at www.disclosure.gov.uk – code of practice.

Every applicant is informed of the requirement for an Enhanced Disclosure in the first Vetting conversation and on the Application Form completed at interview.

Bay Resourcing Teaching Agency will accept an Enhanced Disclosure, dated within the previous 6 months, countersigned by any Teaching Agency or the General Teaching Council for Wales

The applicant will be asked for written consent to seek confirmation of this Disclosure from the original countersignatory at interview. If the named countersignatory does not respond to the portability request within 14 days, the applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure Application form with Bay Resourcing Ltd.

Overseas registered applicants will be asked to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure with the CRB, either before arrival in the UK or at the Induction interview on arrival in the UK.

Every applicant who applies for an Enhanced Disclosure with Bay Resourcing Teaching Agency will be required to pay for the CRB at the application stage.

Those candidates who work consistently with Bay Resourcing Teaching Agency will be asked to update their Disclosure every three years or if there is a gap of 3 months or more in their work in the education field (not including the 6 week summer break for schools).

Disclosures and the information they contain are shared only with those who need to have access to them in the course of their duties and not passed to any third party persons not authorised to receive them. Every candidate will be advised to carry the Disclosure to each assignment to assist the record keeping of client schools and nurseries. Bay Resourcing Teaching Agency will recommend that the candidate shows the school their Disclosure and/or will share the date of issue, reference number and any matters of note recorded on the Disclosure.

As far as possible, Bay Resourcing Teaching Agency will make sure recipients of Disclosure information do not discriminate against an applicant on the basis of conviction or other details revealed. A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position and applicants can be assured that Disclosure information will not be used unfairly.

Any matters revealed in Disclosure information will be discussed with the applicant before withdrawing an offer of a placement. The decision to decline the applicant will be made at senior level and will be handled with the utmost sensitivity.

Disclosures must be stored securely in each office and may now be kept for up to 3 years. The date of issue and unique reference number for Disclosures are recorded on the secure database.

Bay Resourcing Teaching Agency will co-operate with requests from the Criminal Records Bureau to undertake assurance checks as to the proper use and safekeeping of Disclosure information and will report to the Bureau any suspected malpractice in relation to this Code of Practice or any suspected offences in relation to the misuse of Disclosures.
